America, explore, dream and discover.

“Twenty years from now you’ll be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

~ Mark Twain

As an American you should be living by this creed in your personal and business life. You may want to throw caution to the wind by making calculated decisions, but don’t get into the trap of analysis to paralysis. There may be some decisions you need to make by gut feeling after you’ve done your analysis, but remember gut feelings are not as emotional as you may think, when all else is equal on both sides of the equation  your gut decision come from your life experience whether you know/feel it or not.

To simplify your decisions in life about American people and knowing how to deal with them in your business and personal life here are five general categories Americans fall into:

Can’t get no Satisfaction?

“Conceit is bragging about yourself. Confidence means you believe you can get the job done.”
-Johnny Unitas

I Can’t Get No Satisfaction (for all you children of the 1960s this isn’t about the Rolling Stones). Americans really want to work, remember the quote from Oscar Wilde ‘The best way to appreciate your job is to imagine yourself without one’

The truth is that Americans aren’t really looking for help; they’re looking for guidance or leadership to get them moving forward. We’re basically hard working as well as, smart working people who want to provide for themselves. We know there’s a reward with that can do attitude. Whether you work at a job or are running a small business or a fortune 100 corporation there is the motivation to succeed in America through capitalism.

Truths to live by whether you’re have a job or running a business. Better yet, indicators of employee satisfaction/dissatisfaction.

  1. Do I have a job or a career – Motivate me please with respect and feedback about the results of my work along with the rewards.
  2. Am I building a career or reputation in my chosen field?
  3. Do I respect what the company does or in the case of you self-employed individuals, what I do for my customers.
  4. Do I have some control over my role or responsibilities?
  5. Are the decisions being made at my place of work or my decisions in the case of being self employed being made with a level of reliability, consistency and predictability?
  6. Will I still be working here or running this business three years from now?

Thanks for letting me provide you with something to think and ponder about. More to come, so come on back to my blog daily.

Americans and America Today

Americans and America Today

“Ninety-eight percent of the adults in this country are decent, hard-working, honest Americans. It’s the other lousy two percent that get all the publicity. But then–we elected them.”

- Lily Thomlin

Where has all the sanity gone in America and the world? President Barrack Obama received the Noble Prize for Peace!! Blame, we have no one but to blame but ourselves for this fallacy. Don’t be disheartened though under this great republic we have the right to change the people we have placed in these political positions through the process of voting.

My blog will try and help you put America in perspective from my interpretations and opinions, allow you to understand who we are, what I think we really need and why our country and our freedom  will survive and thrive in this century just as we did in the last century. I will with my blog provide you with information about:

  1. Americas Hopes, Dreams and Fears – Even at our worst economic times and threats to our way of life we still have optimism, dreams and can overcome our projected and real fears.
  2. What Americans really want in their daily lives.
  3. Things that really matter to Americans.
  4. American Jobs – What we really want.
  5. What we really want from our Government.
  6. Future Generations and our effect as to what we do today.
  7. Americans outlook on the plans they made for their retirement (80 Million Baby Boomer in the next 10 years plan or planned to retire) and how they’ve changed.
  8. What Americans really need now to overcome this economic downturn and social evolution.

You may have lost your job which is one of the major corner stones of a persons life and their worth, don’t be disheartened (you may be saying easy for him to say, I can’t even make the next rent payment or I’m struggling to put food on the table), but you should be looking at these dips in life as opportunities to force you to reassess your skills, assets (not necessarily financial) and the direction you were heading, as well as, alter the course of that direction to get you to move forward again.

My Blog will be published daily and it’s not a winning lottery ticket but read it and use the information for your best interest to get your life on track and moving forward with that American ‘Can Do’ attitude.

More to come, so come on back!
